Position Overview
The Product Development Specialist’s primary responsibilities include maintenance and updating of underwriting guidelines and related materials for company’s product offering along with analyses of competitor guideline offerings and oversight of new product rollouts. The Product Development Specialist’s responsibilities will also include assisting the Exception & Scenario Team and the Secondary Department on an as needed basis.
This role reports to the Director of Transaction Management.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain underwriting guidelines across multiple origination channels, including proprietary products:

- Complete updates on both short form and long form documents as necessary
- Ensure most current/up to date versions are updated to various holding places
- Maintain checklists, worksheets, and other guideline related items
- Maintain change loan outlining updates made
- Oversee new investor rollouts and new products for existing investors

- Interact with various constituents involved in product roll-out, including Compliance, Underwriting/Credit Administration, Processing, Secondary, and Closing Depts.
- Manage process to meet rollout deadlines
- Work with Training Dept to create materials for sales and operations both for rollouts and for refreshers
- Survey lending landscape and compare product offerings

- Complete guideline gap analyses between company’s offering and competitors
- Report on same and propose product offerings
- Coordinate guideline revisions with Sales and Ops and maintain databases
- Assist Exception & Scenario team to facilitate loan level specific questions
- Complete guideline gap analyses tied to bulk bidding process where company would be buying loans underwritten to sellers’ guidelines
- Complete guideline gap analyses between company’s loan product and similar competitor offerings
- Ad hoc responsibilities as determined by management from time to time and in its sole discretion
Job Requirements:
- Strong analytical and communication (written/oral) skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft office
- Ability to multi-task in rapidly changing environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Minimum five years’ recent work experience either in lending industry or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance or related field
