ECI owns and operate a portfolio of approximately 7,500 multifamily units. Our portfolio holdings consist of market rate multi-family communities, including garden, mid-rise, and high-rise assets located in our target markets of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.
Asset Management Intern Responsibilities:
- Reviews, monitors, and reports on the performance of a portfolio of multifamily assets against budget and investment proforma by analyzing monthly financial statements, leasing reports, market data, and various operating reports.
- Assists with developing and reviewing annual capital and operating budgets.
- Researches variances.
- Prepares reports for investment principals, debt and equity partners.
- Monitors investment performance and returns. Forecasts asset performance relative to debt/equity hurdles as well as underwritten return parameters.
- Gathers, compiles, and analyzes market, economic and capital trends as well as other factors impacting portfolio and asset performance.
- Reviews and monitors the progress of capital projects to determine if projects are occurring on-time and on-budget. Analyze ROI, including rent premiums attained from capital initiatives.
- Analyzes effectiveness of revenue-enhancing and expense-containing initiatives at the property and portfolio levels.
- Completes various other ad hoc analysis related to operational and financial metrics as assigned.
- Identifies opportunities and areas for improvement and offers suggestions and as appropriate implements procedures, processes, or tools the improve efficiency and productivity.
- Interns are not required to work in an office environment, this is a remote internship program.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or as necessary.
Asset Management Intern Skills:
- Demonstrates ability to read, write, and communicate effectively to prepare and explain financial data to business leaders and managers, team members, clients, investors, executives, and other business contacts.
- Demonstrates moderate level of proficiency in Excel.
- Ideal candidate will have experience in the multifamily real estate industry and basic understanding of property-level operations, marketing, and asset management.
- Education and/or employment history that demonstrates a financial background sufficient to analyze financial data and prepare reports in accordance with accounting, finance, budgeting and cost control principles.
- Students working toward a college degree in real estate, finance or business are preferred.
